How to Houzz

Have you heard the buzz about Houzz?    live-work-play finds  it to be a remarkable resource.   When you visit Houzz.com, you will find it is many things: an opportunity to research project types, materials and finishes; referrals for professionals from all over they country; a spot to read articles about the remodeling process and remodeling ideas; and in their proprietary tool, Ideabooks, a place to aggregate what you like (and don’t) and why, on any design topic you might think of.

When you create an Ideabook, you can share with your design professional to communicate visually with her or him. Ideabooks are the backbone of Houzz .

When we first speak with potential clients about their project, we always suggest looking on Houzz.com if they have not already, and create an individual Ideabook. Then, of course, we always hope to be the architectural and design firm they share with!

There are other sites, in addition to Houzz, to collect inspirational images including Pinterest.com  and now Porch.com.   Pinterest showcases images of anything you might imagine, not just design. Once you open an account, a user creates “boards” focusing on any, and many topics. You do this either by ‘pinning’ images as you find them on websites, uploading your own images, or repinning other people’s images. Ultimately, they become shared among your Pinterest followers and users.

Porch.com is a recently launched website that is developing a user base along with a professional base. It is currently going through some growing pains, but promises to be a hyper-local website for finding projects and professionals near you, all by just typing in your zip code.

Check out live-work-play on all of these sites, and we invite you to share your ideas with us!!!!
